I started my little consulting practice back in 1995 in a sleepy tiny rural town. My “Internet Studio” was a place for small business owners to come and find out about this new and exciting technology and what having a website was all about.
From the get-go I noticed how experts in their field, PHd’s and those who clearly were highly educated, for some reason communicated like grade-schoolers when it came to email. Yes, email is “informal”. But if you think about it nothing about succeeding in business is informal.
Email Etiquette Training
I decided that it was important to include email etiquette orientation and technology training with each of my website development packages. I wrote articles and how-tos for my consulting site (before they were called “Blogs”) that was sought out by many and took on a life of its own.
It became clear that email etiquette deserved to have its own website. My first site was OnlineNetiquette.com, which is now known as [email protected]. I wrote about and answered every question that had to do with email etiquette that visitors asked. Wrote a couple books along the way too.
What about Business Email Etiquette?
Onliners started emailing asking for business focused information on how to use email and technology for their businesses. Enter BusinessEmailEtiquette.com! That site covers everything to do with using email and technology to communicate and make your business stand out from your perceived competitors. Including an eBook that I update annually with the latest and greatest information, trends and tips.
With the success of the above followed…
Do you offer any Email Etiquette Seminars?
For my clients training is just part of the deal. I teach them how to market, how to use social media, eCommerce considerations — and email etiquette. I make sure they are aware of all the “enuances” necessary to their success.
But what about everyone else? What about you? I didn’t want to travel the country, nor did I think someone standing up in front a group of people talking about email etiquette or proper technology use would work. Probably would put folks to sleep…
